Season Over

Unfortunately the cold, dry season never really ripened the berries quickly enough for us to open for self pickers. We picked as many as were available to get to Chassell for the Strawberry Festival and also to the Carrousel Winery for their strawberry wine. The rest of the berries were used to fill orders for those of you that called looking for ready-picked berries. Thanks to everyone that ordered them and those of you who waited patiently for us to open the fields for self-picking. Hopefully next year will be a better one!

Berry Patch Dog on Duty - preparing for Festival

The official Berry Patch Dog takes her job seriously and protects each quart as they are picked. With the Strawberry Festival only days away and the berries still somewhat slow to ripen, we have spent the past week filling ready-picked orders, providing berries to the Carousel Winery and letting the fields ripen. Tomorrow we will pick as many as we can find to provide to the Festival for shortcake. Friday we will pick for the Berry competition, some awesome desserts for the auction and some quarts to sell in Chassell. We are hoping to open for self-picking sometime next week. We'll have a better idea on self-picking after Saturday, so check back.

Too cold to ripen

Although the rain is just what they needed, the cold weather is just not helping the ripening of the berries. We still haven't filled any orders but hope to in the next couple of days. We'll keep you posted on the self-picking. FYI -- the Ohtonen Farm in Klingville has lots of berries ready and was planning on opening for self-picking today.

We're hoping for a nice hot 4th of July weekend!
